No IT department required
Leopard Server impresses right out of the box with a simplified set up requiring just a few clicks. Of course there are advanced options for IT professionals, but for those of us without any IT experience, the redesigned Server Assistant is there to eliminate the complexities (and the intimidation) of configuring a server. Whether you're setting up a server for your small business, classroom, or to run your corporate infrastructure, Server Assistant makes the process so simple you'll be up and running in no time.
Once configured, it's just as easy to use. The new Automatic Client Setup feature automatically configures Mac OS X Leopard clients to use the server for all essential services, including file and printer sharing, Mail, iCal, iChat, Address Book, and backup.
It's about time
iCal Server is a complete calendaring platform that makes it easy for individuals and groups to share calendars, coordinate events, schedule meetings, reserve resources, and use their time more effectively. iCal Server uses the open CalDAV standard to support integration with leading calendar applications such as iCal 3 in Leopard, Mozilla's Sunbird, OSAF's Chandler, and Outlook.
Team up
A new Wiki Server to make it easy for teams to create and distribute information through their own shared Intranet website. Everything from podcasts to blogs can be added to the site, which can also act as a central repository for project files and other assets. Team members can create and edit content, insert images, upload files, link between pages, and tag documents for searching - all with a few mouse clicks - no markup or coding required. And the website can also house access to a group mailing list and a shared calendar to ensure everyone knows about the big deadline.
Administrators can create Team directories that illustrate organizational hierarchy, contact details, and office locations and which integrates with iCal Server for group calendars and allocation of shared resources, such as conference rooms.
Stop looking, start finding
Use Spotlight Server to find content on servers within your network as easily as doing a Spotlight search on your local computer. Spotlight Server performs lightning-fast searches on mounted network volumes - making it a snap to find that one fugitive file. Ideal for workgroups with shared documents, projects, and file archives, it's designed to save you time and frustration.
Foolproof podcasting
Podcast Producer is the ideal solution for automated podcast production. All you need is a video camera, a Mac mini, and Leopard Server to begin creating podcasts of product training, daily news, executive briefings, and other events.
Podcast Producer takes the guesswork out of encoding and producing podcasts by automating the entire process - from capture to publish. Simply log into Podcast Producer from any computer with an Internet connection, select your camera, and click “start.” When finished recording, click “stop.” That's it, Podcast Producer will take care of the rest.
